Vehicle accident involving an ambulance in Clifton; I-70B temporarily closes

A Saturday afternoon took a tense turn in Clifton, Colorado, when an ambulance carrying a patient was involved in a crash with a car at a busy intersection. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but the incident brought a swift response from multiple emergency agencies.


At around noon on Saturday, emergency crews rushed to the intersection of I-70B and 32 Road in Clifton following a vehicle accident involving a car and an ambulance.

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP), Mesa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), Grand Junction Fire Department, and other dispatched units responded to the scene promptly.

According to reports, the ambulance was in the process of transporting a patient to the hospital at the time of the accident. The patient was safely transferred to a second ambulance following the crash.

Fortunately, no injuries were caused by the collision.

As emergency responders worked at the site, westbound lanes of I-70B were temporarily closed. MCSO managed traffic control until the area was cleared and deemed safe for reopening.

Authorities have not released further details about the incident, which remains under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol.
