Reality TV star opens up about intense confrontation behind bars with college admissions scandal ringleader.

On a recent episode of the Unlocked podcast hosted by Savannah Chrisley, reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley opened up about their experiences in federal prison—and a fiery confrontation that Todd had with a fellow high-profile inmate.

Todd, 57, and Julie, 52—best known for their roles on Chrisley Knows Best—were granted pardons by former President Donald Trump in May after serving time for convictions on federal bank fraud and tax evasion charges. During the podcast episode, the couple reflected on their time in separate prisons—Todd in Florida and Julie in Kentucky.

At one point, Savannah, 27, recalled a tense situation involving her father:

"Daddy almost got sent to [a different] county one time."

Todd chimed in:

"What? When I jumped on that guy? About you?"

He was referring to William “Rick” Singer, the central figure in the infamous Varsity Blues college admissions scandal and Todd’s fellow inmate at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola.

Todd didn’t hold back when discussing Singer, a former basketball coach who orchestrated a nationwide college admissions bribery scheme.

“He was a snitch who told on Lori Loughlin and her husband [fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli],” Todd said, claiming Singer tried to deny cooperating with authorities.

“He was talking smack, saying he didn’t wear a wire, never told on anyone, and that the feds set him up.”

According to Todd, Singer even tried to engage him in a conversation about writing a book:

“He said, ‘Have you started your book?’ I said, ‘No.’ He said, ‘I’ve started working on mine.’ I said, ‘Well, I hope that the first chapter introduces you as the biggest snitch in America.’”

Todd continued, recalling that he confronted Singer again months later after hearing him badmouth Savannah, who had been publicly advocating for her parents’ release.

“He was talking s--- about Savannah… So I just walked up to him and I said, ‘I’m already in prison. I will rip your head off and s--- down your neck if you talk about my child again.’”

He added:

“I meant what I said. I told him, ‘Just be aware that if my daughter’s name comes out of your mouth again, I will rip your head off and s--- down your neck.’”

Todd said that after that confrontation, he never had another issue with Singer, calling it “really the only issue” he faced during incarceration.

Singer’s legal team has not yet responded to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

William “Rick” Singer was the mastermind behind the 2019 college admissions scandal, where he accepted more than $25 million from parents—including actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman—to fraudulently help their children gain entrance to elite colleges. Singer cooperated with authorities, secretly recording conversations and meetings that led to dozens of arrests.

In 2023, Singer was sentenced to 42 months in prison after pleading guilty to several charges, including racketeering conspiracy and money laundering. He was also ordered to pay $10 million in restitution to the U.S. government. He was released from federal prison in August 2024 to serve the remainder of his sentence in a Los Angeles halfway house.

Todd and Julie Chrisley were originally sentenced to a combined 19 years but were released on May 28, 2025, following their presidential pardons. The couple has maintained their innocence throughout.
